Norfolk man identified as motorcyclist killed in crash near Waterford

A 60-year-old man has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Waterford last Friday.

Gregory Bertram Stilson of Norfolk was headed north when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Cockshutt Road and Thompson Road East just before 7 p.m.

Stilson suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup had to be cut from the wreckage and was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.

It was the second fatal crash involving a motorcycle on Cockshutt Road last week. The first happened last Tuesday when a bike and SUV collided. Christopher Henry Bill, 52, of Haldimand County was killed and an unidentified passenger on the motorcycle was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. Clifford Joseph Casey, 80, of Norfolk County, has since been charged with careless driving causing death in connection with the crash.
