Military vehicles to roll through London region for training exercise

Don’t be alarmed if you see military vehicles rolling across the London region this weekend.

Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 31 Service Battalion, London Support Company will be taking part in driver and convoy operations training between London and Simcoe from Friday to Sunday.

Residents in London, St. Thomas, Aylmer, Delhi, Waterford, Scotland, and Simcoe can expect to see military vehicles on Oxford Street, Highbury Avenue, Highway 3, Highway 46, and Highway 24 over the next three days.

The training is meant to keep reservists ready to respond to emergencies in Canada like floods and wildfires.

“This important training is being conducted in order to keep local Canadian Army Reserve members’ skills current on convoy drills, unit discipline and on the safe and effective operation of specific vehicle platforms,” the Canadian Armed Forces said.

Reserve personnel taking part in the convoy drill will stay in their vehicles, except to perform any required maintenance.

The public is asked to use caution when approaching military vehicles being used in the training.
