Heating product manufacturing plant to bring over 100 new jobs to London

A North American manufacturer of home heating systems plans to open a new factory in London next month, creating more than 120 new jobs.

Glen Dimplex Americas, which has 14 heating and ventilation facilities in nine countries, is investing $7 million to open the 160,000 square foot space in London. Another $6.5 million for the plant is coming from the provincial government.

The new factory will manufacture heat products, primarily baseboards for customers in eastern markets in North America. The increased production capability will allow the company to better meet consumer demand while alleviating pressure on its other facilities. According to company officials, London’s central location offers quick proximity to the US border and the largest heating markets in Central Canada.

The company is eager to begin hiring for the new plant.

“We have been overwhelmed by our warm welcome to London and can’t wait to hire and get production underway,” said Laura De Filippis, the company’s chief human resources officer. “We believe in an electrified future and look forward to leading the transition to the sustainable world in our core categories from right here in London.”

Glen Dimplex Americas is committed to creating new energy-efficient, low-carbon heating and fireplace options for climate-conscious customers, the company added.

“We are thrilled to welcome Glen Dimplex to London, along with more than 100 new jobs its arrival will deliver to our local economy,” said London’s Acting Mayor Josh Morgan. London’s population is growing at unprecedented rates, and the steady recruitment of high-quality businesses like Glen Dimplex is a prime reason why.”
