Provincial police are investigating after a person hitched a ride on the back of a truck in Norfolk County, unbeknownst to the driver.
In a nearly 30 second video posted to social media by OPP on Sunday, a person can be seen clinging to the back of the commercial vehicle on Highway 24 in the Waterford area. The person, standing on the truck’s narrow bumper, had a hood covering their head and a black satchel over one shoulder.
The video was sent to police by a “concerned citizen”, Acting Sergeant Ed Sanchuk said.
“No, YOU are NOT seeing things! A person made a decision to ride on the back on this truck,” Sanchuk wrote in the social media post with the video. “This is a very dangerous act that could of had life-altering or ending consequences.”
The driver of the truck was unaware of the person hanging onto the rear frame of the vehicle, Sanchuk added.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
