Bluewater Mayor, Paul Klopp, says council isn’t quite ready to make a decision on a bylaw regarding short-term rentals.
Klopp says staff had prepared a report with some ideas to send out.
“Staff had prepared a report with some ideas to send out to people to discuss and a number of the councillors had some ideas, so a motion was passed that between now and the next meeting, any councillors that would like to throw some ideas out there, also, would be added to this report.”
Klopp says that report will then go out to the public.
“That report will go out to the public and we will consult with those who are interested in the short term rentals and we’ll listen to their thoughts and then, at some point, council will take all that in and then we, hopefully, can make a decision for what we’d like to do in Bluewater.”
Klopp adds, the municipality does currently have noise bylaws in place, but he says some residents and some councillors feel it might be time for a bylaw that specifically addresses short term rentals.
