London man accused of trying to lure young girl from Asia

A London man is facing more than a dozen charges after an 11-month child pornography investigation involving a 12-year-old girl in Asia.

An unnamed social media company alerted American authorities to child pornography being shared through its platform. The disturbing content was then traced back to Canada, where London police began investigating.

Officers with the internet child exploitation unit seized several electronic devices and arrested a man during a search of a home in the city. A digital forensic analysis of the devices allegedly showed the man had been communicating  for several months with a 12-year-old girl who lives in an Asian country.

London police worked with law enforcement in the child’s country to ensure the girl’s safety, police said.

Joseph Moss, 39, is charged with 16 offences including four counts of luring a person under 16 by telecommunication, three counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16, two counts of making child pornography available, two counts of possession of child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.

Moss is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges at a later date.
