Jordan Moulton from Kincardine is getting lots of ice time playing defense for the Stratford Warriors in the GOHL playoffs. Elmira leads the series two games to one. Jordan is an AP player from the Kincardine Bulldogs.
I watched two games between the Pollock champion Mitchell Hawks and the Carruthers champion, the Stayner Siskins, this past weekend. Friday night in Mitchell, the Hawks were missing five of their top 10 players because of injuries and kids being sick. They got beat 8-0 on their home ice. On Sunday afternoon in Stayner, the Siskins nine-game winning streak came to an end, when the Hawks won 3-2 in overtime. Mitchell finished the game short eight players that would normally be in the lineup. For the Hawks to have a chance to compete with Stayner, they will need to get some of their players back.
Lakeshore (Belle River) is up 3-0 on North Middlesex (Parkhill). Clarington is up 2-1 on Napanee. Grimsby and New Hamburg are tied at 1-1.
In the GOHL, St. Marys is up 2-1 on Leamington and Chatham is up 2-1 on London. There could be a couple of upsets here, as Leamington and London finished 1-2 in the standings.
This coming weekend it is the NFL draft. There are a couple of Canadian kids to watch out for in the first couple of rounds. John Metchie is a wide receiver for Alabama who would have went in the first round for sure, until a late season knee injury. He still should be a high pick. Jesse Luketa, a linebacker who played for Penn State, should go in the top three rounds. The NFL does a good job promoting their draft, which starts on Thursday night.
