The Kincardine Hospital is another step closer to having a CT scanner, as the province issued final approval for construction, and additional funding for the project.
The announcement was made by Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson on Monday.
“This community’s growing and they deserve the best of the best, and by us supporting by way of a grant of up to $2.795 million, the community is going to see their CT scanner suites built.”
The 2,000 square foot addition will be located directly south of the main entrance.
Chairman of the Board of Directors for the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Bill Heikkila, says Kincardine has the highest demand for CT scans from emergency department visits and inpatients across the four sites of SBGHC.
“A lot of people, when they need a CT scan in this area, they need to go to Walkerton. Kincardine has the greatest need of the four hospitals that we have for a CT scanner, so we’re delighted to have a CT scanner here. It’s going to improve healthcare in the community.”
He adds construction will begin as soon as possible.
“We actually started the approval process three years ago in February of 2019, so it’s really exciting, for the whole community, to have us putting the shovels in the ground hopefully this week.”
