The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified a Central Elgin man who died in a single-vehicle car crash last weekend.
Police and Elgin County emergency services arrived at the scene of Ron McNeil Line between Yarmouth Centre Road and Highbury Avenue at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Sunday and closed the area to the public shortly after. The road was re-opened nearly five hours later, just after 4 p.m.
OPP said the vehicle left the roadway and one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was identified late Tuesday afternoon as 64-year-old Joseph Morphy. According to his obituary, Morphy worked for a roofing company in St. Thomas. He leaves behind his wife, daughter and siblings.
Police continue to investigate.
