A recent fire in Listowel has been deemed non-suspicious.
North Perth Fire Chief Janny Pape confirmed that the fire at a property on Havelock Avenue South in Listowel is not suspicious in nature. Chief Pape says when crews arrived there was fire and smoke visible in the building which is divided into a few different living units. Luckily, everyone inside at the time of the fire got out safely.
“The initial call came in and confirmed that everyone had evacuated. The one unit, where the fire was, that’s where the extensive damage was, and there was smoke and water damage to the other units.”
Chief Pape says there is no current estimate on total damages at the property. She also dispelled rumours that some of her crew were assaulted the night of the blaze on Wednesday evening, but she did confirm one of her firefighters was injured the following day.
“Yesterday (Thursday), at the same property, we did have a motorist drive over a hose, which knocked one of our firefighters to the ground, and he did require treatment at the local hospital.”
A cause has still not been determined.
