Wellington County OPP have laid charges following a sexual assault investigation.
In February of this year, police began an investigation into allegations of sexual assaults that occurred in Mapleton Township and the Town of Minto. The sexual assaults were reported to have been committed in 2021 by a young person against multiple other young people. The subject of the complaint was known to each victim. Police have now charged an 18-year-old from Drayton following the investigation with four counts of Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16-years of age contrary to the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice in Guelph for youth court to answer to the charges. Anyone with any further relevant information to this case is encouraged to contact Wellington County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
