London police used a taser on a man they allege threatened and assaulted a person before charging at officers with a knife.
Two people were in the area of Simcoe Street and Burwell Street South around 5 p.m. on Wednesday when they were stopped by a man holding a knife. The man threatened and assaulted one of the two. That individual suffered minor injuries.
Police were called and found the man barricaded inside of a home. Officers, who had been attempting to negotiate with the man, ended up tasering him after he allegedly ran at them with a knife in his hand.
The man was arrested and a knife was seized.
A 25-year-old London man is charged with assault with a weapon, assault, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death, and possession of a weapon dangerous to a public space.
The man has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on June 28.
