Mayor of Kincardine, Gerry Glover, has filed a formal complaint with the Integrity Commissioner regarding “unacceptable comments” used by a councillor at Monday’s council meeting.
In a statement, released Wednesday, Glover said that municipal councillors are expected to uphold respectful behaviour in their interactions, and adhere to a high standard of ethics, given the principles of integrity and accountability that underlie their elected positions.
“On February 7, all members of the Municipality of Kincardine Council re-committed to honouring our Code of Conduct which states that all members of council have a duty to treat one another with respect and ‘without abuse, bullying or intimidation,” the letter stated.
Glover says the Integrity Commissioner says the ruling on this matter will be expedited.
The results of this review will be shared at an upcoming special public Council meeting.
Glover is asking the public for patience while the matter is before the Integrity Commissioner.
