OPP called after stranger approaches child in South Huron

Huron County OPP officers are investigating after a child was offered a ride in Crediton.

OPP officers were told Thursday that a suspicious incident took place March 23, 2022, around 4:00 p.m. on Victoria Avenue in Crediton.

Police learned a middle grade elementary student was waiting at the front of his home for a ride by a family member when an unfamiliar vehicle pulled up. The passenger asked the child if he was hitchhiking and needed a ride. After the child said no, the vehicle turned around and headed eastbound.

Officers are looking for a blue, smaller sport utility vehicle or a large car with four doors.

The passenger is described as a white male, with a slim to medium build, also with several tattoos on his arms. A description of the driver was not obtained.
