After two long cruise-night free summers, classic vehicles and motorcycles are returning to Kincardine.
This year marks the 23rd anniversary of Cruise Nights in this community, an event where on three Friday evenings over the course of the summer, car lovers, car owners and those who appreciate classic cars, can gather downtown and view some of the best of the best.
In years previous to the pandemic, as many as 400 vehicles could be seen on Queen Street and most side streets between Durham Street and Durham Market Street South.
The event is being organized by the Municipality of Kincardine, and tourism coordinator Karlee Woodward says Victoria Park has also been booked, and picnic tables will be brought in for those who wish to sit for a bit and enjoy the view.
The dates for the shows this year have been confirmed as June 24, July 29, and Sept. 2. The first date was pushed back one week, as that Friday falls on both the Canada Day weekend and the Kincardine Scottish Festival.
As in the past, there is no charge for car owners or guests. Woodward said a 50/50 draw has been proposed, but as yet is not confirmed.
“There is a buzz of excitement in Kincardine as we see our favourite events returning after two years,” said Woodward. “The first Cruise Night on June 24 will be a great way to kick off the summer season. We hope to see everyone out to enjoy the classic cars and local shops.”
