Meetings in Huron County to support immigrants from Ukraine

Huron County libraries are working with the Huron County Immigration Partnership on a program to coordinate the efforts of community members who want to help bring immigrants from Ukraine to Huron County.

Immigration Partnership Communications Officer, Mark Nonkes, explains, they’re organizing information sessions.

“Essentially information sessions for community members who are looking to support newcomers who are coming from Ukraine, to understand what services are available for folks and who is working on issues related to this, so that we can have a more coordinated community approach,” explained Nonkes.

The information will be presented to the public during the second week of April.

Those meetings will be April 12, 13 and 14 and be held at library branches in Exeter, Seaforth and Wingham.

The meetings in Exeter and Seaforth will be held 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. while the meeting in Wingham will run 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Nonkes says there will also be a virtual meeting on Wednesday, April 20 between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. for the people who are not able to attend the earlier meetings.

Nonkes adds, people can register for the meetings and get more information at Eventbrite.
