Fog advisory in effect for much of southwestern Ontario

Thick fog will make for a slower than normal commute across much of southwestern Ontario Wednesday morning.

The fog rolled in late Tuesday night prompting Environment Canada to issue an advisory that stretched from Windsor to Chatham-Kent to London and Middlesex County, through Oxford Country and Norfolk County and into the GTA.

The national weather agency warns visibility could be reduced to near zero at times.

“With temperatures near or just below the freezing mark, the fog may deposit ice on untreated surfaces. Some roads and sidewalks may become slippery as a result,” Environment Canada said.

Drivers are advised to slow down and make sure their vehicle’s entire exterior lighting system is switched on.

The fog is expected to lift late in the morning.
