The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate after a 23-year-old man was reportedly shot by a London police officer early Sunday morning.

Officers reportedly then located and arrested a man, who was said to be in possession of weapons. The two victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“There was an interaction, and one officer shot the man with a less-lethal firearm. Conducted energy weapons were also discharged at the man,” the SIU said in a statement released on Monday. “The man sustained serious injuries not as a result of police-involvement however, the SIU’s mandate was invoked because a police officer discharged a less-lethal firearm, which is classified as a firearm.”
