Residents in east London still in need of a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be able to get it more conveniently when the GO-VAXX bus rolls into the city on Saturday.
The Middlesex London Health Unit has announced Ontario’s mobile vaccination clinic will be at the East Lions Community Centre in the Argyle neighbourhood from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It offers first, second and booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to those who are eligible. The aim of the mobile clinic is to reduce barriers for those who have yet to get the shot because of convenience and limited transportation options.
“While appointments have previously been required to attend one of the GO-VAXX Bus vaccination clinics, those who would like to receive the vaccine are now being welcomed on a walk-in basis as well,” the health unit said in a statement. “Anyone who would prefer to book an appointment in advance may do so by visiting covid19.ontariohealth.ca/ and following the instructions found under the webpage’s Book your vaccine appointment section.”
Appointments can also be booked by phone by calling 1-833-943-3900. Bookings for appointments for the GO-VAXX bus visit to London open to the public as of 8 p.m. on Friday. They cannot be booked through the regular Middlesex-London booking site.
This is the fifth time the provincial mobile vaccination clinic has visited the city and its second time coming to the East Lions Community Centre.
The five GO-VAXX buses, operated in partnership with Metrolinx, have been traveling across the province, making stops at malls, community hubs, festivals, and special events since the fall of last year. All COVID-19 public health safety measures are followed on board, including pre-entry symptom screening, mandatory face covering while inside, and post-vaccination monitoring.
The health unit continues to offer several other other walk-in, pop-up vaccinations clinics, including mobile ones run in partnership with the Middlesex-London Paramedic Service. A list of upcoming clinics can be found by clicking here.
