Unionized workers at the Dr. Oetker frozen pizza factory are coming off the picket lines after being on strike for a week.
On Wednesday, employees ratified a new deal with the company after reaching a tentative agreement Tuesday afternoon.
“The members of UFCW Local 175 at Dr. Oetker ratified the memorandum of settlement [Wednesday] by 62 per cent,” said Jennifer Tunney, a communications communicator for Local 175.
Workers had been negotiating a new contract since the fall. Last week, the committee returned to the bargaining table seeking equal increases for employees at the plant, as well as higher wages in each year of the proposed agreement term. When the final offer from the company was rejected, members began legal strike action on February 16.
No other details on the deal were made available.
