The province is investing $4 million dollars to make improvements at Georgian College.
Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker announced the funding in a recent release that stated the funds will go toward “providing a modern and safe learning environment for students, faculty and staff, both virtually and on campus.”
The money at the two campuses will go toward various building improvements including HVAC upgrades, accessibility upgrades and fire alarms, as well as investments to improve the learning experiences in various programs.
The investments at Georgian College will help to:
-modernize equipment and resources to support programs including Georgian’s new stand-alone Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree at the Barrie and Owen Sound campuses
-purchase a variety of equipment for their Collaborative Nursing program at their Barrie and Owen Sound campuses, including: code blue notification system; wheel chairs; student charting stations; floor lift; and crash cart
-provide HVAC upgrades, elevator refurbishments, and classroom improvements
“This funding support of the nursing programs will ensure students have access to modern instructional equipment to meet business and industry standards, and enhance the overall student experience,” Walker said. “By investing in postsecondary infrastructure, we are not only supporting our local economy, but supporting our local students to access good education closer to home, which ultimately will result in more care to people of our community.”
