Slight rise in COVID-19 case counts across Midwestern Ontario on Friday

COVID-19 case counts in the region continue to rise.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is reporting 93 new cases of COVID-19 today, with 32 of those in Wellington County. Outbreaks continue at Caressant Care in Harriston and Fergus in both the retirement and long-term care communities, as well as at Highland Manor in Fergus. There have been 42 fatal cases in Wellington County due to COVID-19, and across WDGPH, there are 31 confirmed cases of COVID-19 currently in Acute Care, and 11 cases in Intensive Care.

Huron-Perth Public Health is reporting 46 new cases on Friday, with outbreaks continuing at several long-term care homes. There is also a hospital outbreak at the South Huron Hospital , with eight patients listed as active cases. HPPH reports nine active cases hospitalized with COVID-19. 206,159 residents of Huron-Perth have tested positive for COVID-19 since March 2020.

Grey Bruce Public Health is reporting 49 new cases, with outbreaks at 8 long-term care facilities, although an outbreak at Errinrung Retirement Home in Thornbury was declared over. There have been 25 deaths in Grey-Bruce due to COVID-19, and 10 confirmed local active cases hospitalized due to COVID-19.
