After a fairly mild Wednesday morning, another blast of winter weather is expected to hit parts of southwestern Ontario on Wednesday afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for Chatham-Kent, London and Middlesex County, Elgin County, and Sarnia-Lambton.
According to the weather agency, lake effect snow squalls off Lake Huron are expected to begin Wednesday evening and last into Thursday night.
During that time, between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow could fall in parts of the region. Environment Canada says that could cause reduced visibility.
“Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably,” Environment Canada said. “Changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
Temperatures are also expected to drop significantly by Wednesday afternoon, falling to -5C with a windchill of -12C.
