Provincial police are crediting a Good Samaritan for helping several farm animals escape a burning barn Monday night.
According to police, the person was driving on Cockshutt Road between Concession 6 Townsend and McMichael Road near Waterford around 8 p.m. when they spotted the flames.
The driver pulled into the driveway of the farmhouse and started blowing their horn to alert the residents to the blaze. The residents came out and managed to quickly get the animals from the barn to safety.
The barn was fully engulfed by the time fire crews arrived.
No injuries were reported.
“A big thank you to the Good Samaritan who took the time to stop to alert the residents to the fire,” Acting OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk said on Twitter.
A damage estimate and suspected cause of the blaze has not been released.
