London police say they had to chase down a suspect who is accused of driving a vehicle with altered licence plates.
According to police, officers in the area of Hamilton Road and Adelaide Street spotted a vehicle with what appeared to be altered plate on Wednesday evening. Police tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver took off. A short distance away, police laid down a spike belt, which brought the vehicle to a stop. The driver tried to run away, but was chased down by officers.
An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolent on December 27, 2021. It also determined that the suspect’s driver’s licence was under suspension.
A 43-year-old London man is charged with failing to stop for police, driving while prohibited, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, driving while under suspension, using a plate not authorized for a vehicle, and using an altered plate.
