Freezing rain warning in effect

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for much of southwestern Ontario.

Parts of Lambton, London-Middlesex, Oxford, Grey-Bruce, and Huron-Perth counties are all expected to see periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle throughout the night.

“Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas,” the weather agency advised.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures causes an icy build-up on roads, sidewalks, and other surfaces.

The warning is expected to end early Sunday morning when temperatures rise.

Grey-Bruce and Huron-Perth also have a snow squall watch in effect, starting Sunday evening.
