Be sure to bundle up as strong, cold winds are expected to blow through parts of the province on Wednesday.
Environment Canada issued a weather advisory late Tuesday afternoon advising residents to prepare for strong wind gusts between 70 and 80 kilometres per hour.
Wednesday morning will be somewhat mild, with temperatures hovering around 2 degrees in areas including Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, London-Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford. However, by the afternoon, a cold front is anticipated to sweep across the region bringing winds from the southwest.
“High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break,” read a statement from Environment Canada. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”
By Wednesday afternoon, wind gusts will ramp up, and temperatures will drop significantly in most areas to around -4 C, with the wind chill making things feel more -15 C.
The weather agency also advised residents to prepare for possible power outages due to the winds. Wind conditions are expected to settle down by late Wednesday evening.
