Ontario set to release restrictions

There are the reports the province could announce more restrictions to curb the spread of the Omicron variant as early as Monday.

Multiple media outlets are reporting Premier Doug Ford met with his cabinet Sunday to discuss possible restrictions including banning indoor dining, retail capacity limits, cancelling ticketed events, and limiting indoor gatherings to just five people.

In Wingham, one restaurant is opting not to reopen after the holiday break citing the ” inability to predict new restrictions.” In a post on Facebook, the establishment says they will reopen when they have “clear information on how to move forward.”

Last week, the province’s chief medical officer, Dr. Kieran Moore announced that school would not resume until Wednesday.

The  province confirmed more than 16,000 new cases of COVID-19, something experts warn is an under count due to the limited availability of testing.
