Western University announced that president Alan Shepard will take a leave of absence due to a medical issue.
The university said, via Twitter, that Shepard experienced an unexpected cardiac issue and required immediate attention.
Sarah Prichard, interim provost and vice-president (academic), will act as president in the coming weeks.
