Impaired charge laid after vehicle hits hydro pole

A single-vehicle crash northwest of Parkhill has led to impaired driving charges against a North Middlesex man.

Emergency crews were called after a vehicle travelling along Elm Road left the roadway and hit a hydro pole just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

No injuries were reported.

Police suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol and used an approved roadside screening device before taking the individual to the Middlesex OPP detachment for additional tests.

A 51-year-old man has since been charged with driving while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. The man will make a court appearance in relation to the charge in July.
