CHATHAM – A man originally charged with murder in the death of a Tilbury resident has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in Chatham Superior Court.

Darin Noland, 61, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder during a virtual appearance earlier this week, court officials said. Noland, who had been released previously on house arrest with conditions, is slated to return to court on Nov. 8 for sentencing.

There is a publication ban in place on any evidence heard during Tuesday’s hearing as charges against two other accused are still before the courts in the pre-trial stage.

Noland, Kimberly Price, 53, and David Trealout, 34, were charged with first-degree murder after the body of Henry Neudorf, 55, of Tilbury, was found on Town Line Road near Pain Court on Jan. 12, Chatham-Kent police have said.

During an appearance in court last month, Noland had asked to have his case sent to Superior Court assignment court to book a trial by judge alone.

In late April, Trealout told court he wanted to fire his lawyer, represent himself and scrap a recommended assessment of his fitness to stand trial. Justice of the peace Mary-Louise Cortese told him that the purpose of the assessment was to ensure he receives a fair trial.

In a mid-May appearance, court learned Trealout had decided not to represent himself and would undergo a fitness assessment. Trealout is set to return to court Oct. 11 for an update on that.

Price is scheduled to return to court on Monday for an update on her case.
