The youth’s identity and the identity of the victim are protected by the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
His defence lawyer, Robert Morris, told Ontario Court Justice Timothy Macdonald that he received some preliminary information about the case from the Crown on Wednesday and is expecting much more.
“I will need some time to review disclosure and decide on next steps,” he said.
He noted that the youth’s father was in the courtroom for the hearing.
Morris asked that the case be adjourned to the next youth court in Goderich on Aug. 8 by video link.

The youth appeared on screen in a jail-issued burgundy-coloured T-shirt. He said nothing during the hearing.
He was charged after Huron County OPP were called to the small community of Holmesville, just west of Clinton, on July 2 to an address on Cut Line Road where they said they found a person who was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
The focus of the investigation was the long-shuttered Holmesville elementary school where police put up yellow emergency tape and set up their vehicles.
Ontario Provincial Police have asked for anyone who drove through the area between 12 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on July 2 to check their dashboard cameras for any footage that could be of assistance.
