Man found passed out in stolen vehicle

A London man accused of stealing a vehicle from a north-end home was allegedly found sleeping in it several hours after it went missing.

Members of the London Police Service were contacted Monday at around 4:45 p.m. about a vehicle stolen from the area of Renwick Avenue and Cheapside Street. Officers arrived and took down a description as part of their investigation.

Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, police located the vehicle near the area of Dundas and Wavell Streets. When officers approached the vehicle, which was running at the time, they located a man passed out in the driver’s seat. He was taken into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported.

A 38-year-old London man has since been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, impaired operation, and breach of probation.

The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
