Charges have been laid against one of two dirt bike riders accused of recklessly speeding through London last month.
Concerned citizens began calling London police about two un-plated bikes running red lights and passing vehicles while driving into oncoming traffic in the city around 3:15 p.m. February 2.
Police tried to stop the bikes, but they took off after getting into a minor collision with a marked cruiser, police said. No injuries were reported.
In the weeks that followed, police publicly released photos of the bright yellow and white dirt bikes and the individuals operating them.
A 26-year-old London man was identified as one of the dirt bikers, police said on Tuesday. He has been charged with nearly a dozen offences including dangerous driving, racing a vehicle, careless driving, failure to stop for police, and driving without insurance.
Police are still looking for the second rider involved in the incident. While a description of him is limited, police determined he was riding a white Suzuki dirt bike, had on a black and white helmet with a camera affixed to it, a black coat, and green pants.
Anyone with information in relation to this incident or the identity of the drivers is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
