OPP places schools in Dorchester in ‘hold and secure’ for investigation

Two schools in Dorchester were put in “hold and secure” for an active investigation Thursday.

Just before 3 p.m. , Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued a statement on Twitter that said officers with the Middlesex County detachment, along with Waterloo Regional Police (WRPS) officers, are assisting with a “hold and secure” at Lord Dorchester Secondary School and other area elementary schools in the area.

The OPP said multiple officers are in the area conducting an investigation, with the “hold and secure” being put in place as a precaution.

Earlier on Thursday, WRPS tweeted that officers were called to Weber Street East and Montgomery Road in Kitchener for a robbery. A police spokesperson with Waterloo police confirmed to London News Today that the investigation in Kitchener led police to Dorchester.

No other details have been provided, police say updates will be shared as they become available.
