New Initiative Grant Program now accepting applications

United Way Perth-Huron is now accepting applications for its New Initiative Grant Program.

“It’s our way of being able to offer smaller grants to respond to emerging needs, helping organizations test new service models or launch smaller projects or pilot new projects. So, it’s funding up to $20,000 for one year, ” said United Way Director of Governance and Community Impact, Megan Partridge.

The funding will start on April 1st, 2023 and run until March 31st, 2024.

Partridge said one project that is receiving funding this year is the New Journey project, which is a transportation pilot project in the South Huron, Huron Park area.

“So helping to address the issue of transportation there, with helping to work with a local cab company for reduced vouchers for people to get in and out of that area. And that is being run by the Community Table in Exeter.”

Partrdige explained the New Initiative Grant program gives them some flexibility, outside of their normal funding, to look at something that is new and innovative to meet the needs of the community. Registered charities or qualified individuals can apply, but if they have any doubt or questions they can call her at 519-271-7730 and she can talk them through their eligibility. The deadline for submissions is November 4th.
