Hanover mayor says town is still in recovery mode after fire

The Mayor of Hanover says the town continues to be in “recovery mode” following a fire two weeks ago.

Sue Paterson tells CKNX says residents in nearby apartments have been allowed to return after a fire displaced several people living at the building on 10th Street known as the former Forum Hotel Rooming House.

Paterson says many residents remain in the grieving process, reminiscing about the former building, saying “whether it was the Hanover Inn, or businesses that have followed that, but the Hanover Inn was sort of the mainstay, been in business the longest, and people have a lot of connection with it, one way or the other.”

Several businesses have held BBQ’s or other events over the last several weeks to raise funds to help those displaced by the fire.
