Charges in separate motorcycle crashes
Police have charged two drivers in separate crashes in Norfolk County this week that saw motorcyclists flown to hospital with “life-altering” injuries.
A 55-year-old from Haldimand is charged with careless driving causing bodily harm after a pickup truck hit a motorcycle on Cockshutt Road just north of Concession 6 Woodhouse on June 4, Tuesday.
A second crash on Wednesday, again involving a pickup and a motorcycle, injured a biker at Highway 6 and St. John’s Road East, just north of Port Dover. A 27-year-old from Brantford faces several charges in that crash, including failure to yield to traffic on a through highway, improper means of attachment for a commercial vehicle, and driving a commercial vehicle without a valid operator’s certificate.
The motorcycle operators suffered “life-altering” injuries in both crashes, police said, though no other details were provided.
Meanwhile, no charges have been laid in a two-vehicle crash at a rural intersection west of Waterford on Thursday evening that left one person dead and sent four to hospital. That investigation was still ongoing as of Friday afternoon, OPP Const. Andrew Gamble said.
