Lake Huron Coastal Centre looking for watchers this summer

The Lake Huron Coastal Centre is looking for more Coast Watchers for this year.

Coastal Stewardship Technician Alyssa Bourassa says anybody with a love of the lake can volunteer.

“So this is out Community Science Program where volunteers collect data on Lake Huron once a week from May till October about wild life, plastic pollution and algae blooms. Anybody’s welcome, now experience is necessary, no equipment is necessary.”

Bourassa says this is the 18th year for the program and they now have more than 250 Coast Watchers.

“We have people all the way from Sarnia to Tobermory and into Georgian Bay and we actually welcomed out first Michigan-based Coast Watchers as well last year,” she says.

Anyone interested in becoming a Coast Watcher can find the registration form at www.lakehuron.ca/coastwatchers up until May 14.
