Numerous people were involved in a disturbance that led to a double shooting in the downtown, London police said on Monday.
Police began receiving 911 calls about gunfire in the area of Richmond and Oxford streets around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived they found evidence multiple shots had been fired, with bullet casings laying around and a number of vehicles and businesses in the area hit.
A preliminary investigation determined that numerous people were engaged in a disturbance in and around several parking lots east of Richmond, between Oxford and Piccadilly streets when the gunfire rang out. Blood was seen on the pavement, but officers were initially unable to locate any victims.
Shortly after, police were notified about two people suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds who had been dropped off at hospital separately. Those two individuals remained in hospital on Monday, police said.
No other injuries have been reported.
Police said that several vehicles were seen fleeing the scene following the shooting. No descriptions of those vehicles have been provided.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses to the disturbance and shooting to come forward. As well, they are asking anyone who may have been in the area that has dashcam footage or surveillance cameras that captured the events to call them at 519-661-5670. Information can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
