Charges have been laid against a man who tried to outrun police after he allegedly broke into a home in Tillsonburg over the weekend.
According to Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), at around 7:30 p.m. last Friday, officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at a residence on Potters Road. Police were told a suspect was seen attending the residence and removing property.
When officers arrived, the suspect reportedly took off into a wooded area in an attempt to evade police. OPP officials say the accused was located and arrested a short distance away from where the incident took place.
A 24-year-old Tillsonburg man faces several charges including theft under $5,000 breaking and entering a place to commit an indictable offence, failing to comply with an undertaking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and entering land where line work is situated.
The accused is scheduled to appear in a Woodstock courtroom at a later date.
