Saugeen Shores launches survey on North Shore Park Train Proposal

Saugeen Shores council asked for more public input on the North Shore Park rehabilitation and it’s hoping to get it through an online survey.

The town wants to hear from residents whether they’re in favour of a proposal for the return of the Port Elgin and North Shore Railroad. Brought forward by Scott Pearson, the plan would bring an operational railroad back to the park, as well as other tourist attractions like mini golf, a gift shop, and an artisan charcuterie and wine garden.

The survey simply asks whether people support the North Shore Park train proposal, and provides a space for brief comments (100 words or less).

Three members of council voiced their opposition to the project at the April 11 Committee of the Whole meeting, with Councillor Bud Halpin noting there weren’t very many responses during the first round of public consultation last summer.

Now is the chance for more members to let their opinions be known. The survey will be open until Friday, May 12 at 4:30 p.m.
