Saugeen Conservation has extended a water safety statement for the region with the forecast calling for heavy rain to end the week.
The SVCA is urging caution around watercourses as water levels remain high throughout most of the area following last week’s rain and snowmelt. They say with saturated soil from last week’s weather, the 15-to-30 millimeters of rain forecast for Friday will contribute to quickly increasing water levels.
Significant flooding is not expected, but minor flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
The conservation authority originally issued the statement on Saturday, March 25. The statement will remain in effect until Tuesday, April 4.
Conservation staff will be closely monitoring the situation and will provide an update if conditions change. To report flooding in your area, visit their website.
