Grant will support recreation in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh

Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (A-C-W) received a $57,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant through the Ontario Trillium Foundation at a special meeting Wednesday night.

A-C-W Mayor Glen McNeil says they were presented with the grant by Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and Emma Bartz from the Trillium Foundation and he says the funds will support a strategic plan for the next ten years that will improve trails and our recreational facilities.

McNeil says things like parks and recreation have always been important to a community.

“And I would suggest that coming out of COVID we are all looking to re-engage with each other in recreation and we have so many trails in A-C-W and our residents really enjoy using these trails and that’s what they’re there for,” he said.

McNeil says they have a consultant working with them on gathering input from residents of A-C-W and surrounding area and several were on hand at Wednesday’s meeting to make suggestions. McNeil says they’re still anxious to hear from residents and he encourages anyone with ideas or suggestions contact the A-C-W municipal office.
