Mid-week snowstorm to hit southern Ontario

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement ahead of a mid-week snowstorm that could bring up to 20 cm of snowfall in certain regions.

The weather agency says a Texas low will move through southern Ontario late Wednesday into Thursday. About 10 – 15 cm of snow is expected, but higher amounts are possible.

The alert warned that visibility will be reduced during periods of heavy precipitation.

“Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult,” the statement read.

As of Sunday afternoon, the special weather statement was in place for the following areas: Sarnia, Lambton County, Windsor, Essex County, Chatham-Kent, Elgin County, London, Middlesex County, Oxford County, Huron County and Perth County.
