Weapons charges laid following search warrant

Weapons charges have been laid following a recent search warrant in Southgate.

On January 17, members of the Grey-Bruce OPP initiated a search warrant at a Southgate Township residence. One individual in the residence was arrested and police seized what they’re calling offence-related property, including illegal firearms. A 24-year-old Southgate resident is now facing charges including unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
