North Huron’s recreation and cultural services may be reduced

North Huron Council has received a service delivery review from the CAO that suggests there may be some changes to cultural and recreational services.

The report called for the permanent closure of the Township operated fitness centre by no later than May 1, 2023.  It also included an annual pool closure in July and August beginning on July 1, 2023.

The report said the Blyth & District Community Centre would close from April 1 to August 31 annually.  It also included seeking third party operators for the Museum and the Blyth Campground.

The report also called the Township’s contribution toward marketing for Blyth Centre for the Arts to be reduced to $10,000.

The report suggested that free recreation programs be discontinued, as the township encourages more sponsored programs.  Staff will create a report for a recreation subsidy program for low income North Huron residents.
