Two suspects, 16- and 17-years-old, were arrested by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Tuesday after an armed robbery at an address on Keystone Place, Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation.
Around 5 a.m., Middlesex County OPP say they were dispatched along with members of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police to a property where two people were assaulted. The accused are believed to have attended the address to complete a purchase that was initiated online – for the victims, the transaction did not go according to plan.
Following the incident, the suspects allegedly fled the and their vehicle collided with a school bus full of adults on Sunset Road, about 20 kilometres southeast of the site of the incident. No injuries were reported. The two young suspects were then reportedly taken into custody by Elgin OPP.
According to OPP, a 17-year-old of Ancaster and a 16-year-old of Hamilton are each facing multiple charges including armed robbery, possession of a weapon, possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis, and failure to comply with release orders.
Police say the accused have been held for bail and the investigation is continuing.
The suspect identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
