A Woodstock police officer has been charged in relation to an on-duty incident that happened earlier this year on October 17.
After receiving information about the officer’s conduct, the Woodstock Police Service says a criminal investigation was launched with assistance from the London Police Service.
According to a media release, Detective Constable Eric Dopf, who has been employed in the Woodstock Police for 17 years, has been arrested and charged with one count of assault. The report also indicates that the officer was suspended with pay, per the Ontario Police Services Act.
Dopf is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom on January 16, 2023.
