COVID-19 continues to impact residents in Huron Perth

Huron Perth Public Health continues to monitor the spread of the COVID-19 virus, including the number of outbreaks and fatalities

The latest data shows the virus has now taken the lives of 130 residents of Huron and Perth counties since the pandemic began. The majority of fatalities have involved residents over the age of 80, with 79 deaths reported in that group. There have also been 41 deaths due to COVID-19 in residents aged 60 to 79. Eight people aged 40 to 59 have succumbed to the virus, while two people under the age of 39 also died after contracting COVID-19.

Currently, there are three outbreaks in long-term care homes in the region, and two outbreaks in retirement homes. There are also ongoing outbreaks at both Listowel and Wingham hospitals.
